Three Sisters
A quick sketch and watercolor of this trio of Eucalyptus trees done in a Carlsbad Park in 2017.
Psalm 1:1-3
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
End of Day
Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and save. ~ Isaiah 46:4
In the Quiet
The latest thing on my easel is this gouache painting. I tried to depict a sense of depth and also a bright glow in the sky from the early evening waning sun. One thing is certain, greens are hard to master but I'll keep trying because they are lovely.
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
...I will be exalted in the earth.”
LaJolla Shore - Plein Air
Two different quick and dirty watercolor's done while standing on the cliff behind the art museum in
La Jolla, looking south. Did them back to back and tried to see something different for each. The second one shows the fog bank moving in off the ocean late in the afternoon. These were done during a 3-day watercolor workshop with an artist named Keiko Tanabe. My best artist friend and I enjoyed that weekend together "doing art" outside on location. I'm still struggling with the whole plein air sketching on location thing. I think I'm more of a studio painter, but these are good exercises.
The sea is His, for it was He who made it, And His hands formed the dry land.
