Succulent Cafe Study (2016)

Early in my revived foray into art, Patti and I spent the morning at the Succulent Cafe close to Oceanside Pier with our Dirty Chai Lattes, close enough to the beach to smell the salt air. I drew with a pen then applied color with watercolor pencils, accidentally dipping my brush into my latte instead of water once, but used I it anyway - it was a nice burnt sienna color!

Random old sketches from art school in Tucson (pre-2000)

The little girls of a girl my son was dating.

Good Lord, her neck looks like a tree trunk!
I remember I did that without lifting my pen.

I used to freak people out because I'd sit in a waiting room and
sketch the people around me --until they figured it out and then I stopped.

Is it just me or does this look like Pat Buchanan?!

Eggplant Illustration

Illustration study done from observing eggplants sitting in front of me. First done with all the different tones and shading in graphite, then went over it with Prismacolor art markers to add the color. The goal was to do more of an illustrative piece.

Village Woman

I did this in Prismacolor Pencils so long ago I can't even remember - I'd guess 1971. I found it hanging on the inside of my mother's closet. It had probably been there for over 35 years.
I'd had no classes to date, it's not that bad!
